NEW MRO SERVICES
Florida Drug Screening now offers
MRO services to employers, TPA's, clinics, and hospitals. All results
are received electronically from the laboratories. These results are then
reviewed by the MRO and the reported via e-mail, web site, fax, phone
or mail. Our emphasis is in helping the smaller TPA's and clinics with
excellence in personalized service when utilizing an MRO. We can also
send all results electronically directly to any TPA's or clinics that
are Drug Pak users. Prices are extremely competitive.
Dr.
Charles Moorefield is now our in house certified Medical Review Officer
(MRO), and he receives special training in properly reviewing confirmed
positive test results. In these cases, it is important to determine if
an alternate explanation exists and could account for the positive result.
It is his responsibility to conduct an interview with the individual in
order to obtain information on prescription usage and to determine whether
the use of this drug could cause on the job impairment. Some drugs such
as opiates or amphetamines, may carry a reasonable explanation for use.
Though all federal testing requires medical review officer
interpretation, non-regulated testing allows the employer to determine
whether or not to attach this service to their drug-testing program. It
is important to remember that, without this service, employers may face
some liability when determining the legitimacy of a positive laboratory
result.
THE MRO PERFORMS FOUR MAIN FUNCTIONS:
- Receive lab reports
from the laboratory (as governed by regulations.)
- Review lab reports
for integrity, authenticity, false negatives, and false positives.
- Interpret lab
results, including verification of lab positives.
- Report lab reports
to employers (as defined by rules and regulations.)
