Coalition Wins Grant for Student Drug Testing FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Contact: Joe Reilly - 888 441 4599 Palm Bay, Florida – October 7, 2005 – Student Drug Testing of America, Inc. was awarded this week from the United States Department of Education (DOE) a 3 year grant in the amount of $137,000.00 for student drug testing programs. This grant funding will allow for comprehensive student drug testing programs for three private schools in South Florida. The proposal submitted by Student Drug Testing of America, Inc. was selected by the DOE’s Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools. This program authorized by the No Child Left Behind Act has as its purpose the funding for drug testing programs for student athletes, students engaged in competitive extracurricular activities, and students, who along with their parent or guardian, volunteer to be drug tested. A total of approximately $6.5 million dollars was awarded by the Department of Education to over 50 grantees. The project submitted by Student Drug Testing of America, Inc. has as its highest priority the results or outcomes to be attained by the student drug testing program. The major goal is to reduce drug use among the target population of students by 5% annually. Pre- and post-test anonymous student surveys will be conducted to provide evidence of levels of alcohol and drug use by students at each school. These surveys will create a method of determining the success of the goal to reduce drug use by five percent each year. Student Drug Testing of America, Inc is a coalition of drug and alcohol testing providers located throughout the country and experienced in student drug testing. The coalition’s goal is to assist with additional information, services, and guidance to public and private schools regarding student drug testing. The grant award for student drug testing will be administered by two members of the coalition located in Florida, Joe Reilly of Florida Drug Screening, Inc. and Elaine Taule of NMS Management Services, Inc.
